Telescope
At 1678mm this telescope is a brilliant step into medium/long focal length imaging when combined with a smaller 4/3rds sensor. It’s perfect for getting up close and personal with many of the smaller nebulas and galaxies as well as taking higher resolution shots of interesting sections within much larger ones. It’s a corrected Dall Kirkham with a nice flat field.
If you are a member of one of our Wide-field Syndicates like Pier 13/14 then this scope would complete your needs for multi season imaging as it will take you through galaxy season as well as allow you a whole year of Globs, Planetary Nebs, Boks & Abell's to mention a few things :) :)
CMOS Camera
Just in case you have never used CMOS and have been using CCD like the rest of us for the last million years then let me tell you it requires a different approach, you can forget long subs as the are not needed and at most times detrimental to your image quality. Allowing for CMOS’s sensitivity, higher dynamic range and super low read noise broadband imaging typically 60s is ample and 120s for narrowband, you just needs a lot more of them of course.
Please note: The maximum sub length we will do on this pier is 300s.
