We have chosen Pier-9 with for this dataset as we wanted to get a fairly close in high resolution image of M27. We hope some of the outer shells showing well as there is more than enough data to achieve this.

We needed to use our good old 16" Dall Kirkham to get such a close up high resolution shot and we hope you enjoy processing it. Apologies the competition is a little late but our StarParty got in the way of normal proceedings in September :)

289x180s of HA
120x180s of OIII
177x 60s of Red
144x 60s of Green
120x 60s of Blue

The data will be available on the server HERE for all members to download later this evening and the competition winner will be chosen at the end of November.

Competition rules are simple and as follows:

  • You must be a member of the Roboscopes forum area to enter the competition (don’t worry its free to join)
  • Your processed image must be posted in our forum competition thread

  • If you post your final image elsewhere, you must state that the image was processed using free competition data from Roboscopes
  • Nobody associated directly with Roboscopes can win although they may enter for the fun of it

Roboscopes will supply the un-calibrated image subs, calibration frames including darks, Bias & Flats where appropriate for you to download from our “Nexus” image portal, one of the Roboscopes team* will choose the winners at the the beginning of each month, hopefully some of you may also be interested in becoming judges :)

The winner will receive 5 free hours data on the chosen pier for that months competition, worth upto €250. We have 7 piers to choose from so each month we will choose one at random.

The runner up will receive a €30 Imaging voucher to spend with us.

If you are new to Roboscopes then you will need to join our site, please go to our memberships page HERE in order to join as a free member, this will then allow you access to the downloads and calibration folders area.

Please feel free to like or discuss any image that posted. The maximum image size you can upload to the forum is 20mp, they simply copy and paste inline BTW

*PS if any of you are interested in becoming a judge please contact Peter Shah via DM

Thanks very much for the free data to process and the link in from the JTW Discord group.. At a time when my own equipment is down it was great to give this some time yesterday. I know I will come back to the data again to try a different processing route....but for now, happy to post my 1st effort. This one with a very definite effort to keep the stars   :-)

Hello,
this is my version of the competition data. Again, a big thank you to the Roboscopes team for providing this great dataset. I was very happy about it and it was a lot of fun to process this data :)

Amused myself with this great data set again today. If a 2nd post here is not permitted - just ignore it. It was done for the fun of it and in an effort to improve on my last process.

Great to see all the stunishing results of the competition data of M27 here.

This amazing dataset took me quite a while to manage within PixInsight and Affinity Photo. But finally here´s my version of M27.

Enjoy,

WOW - that's really great data again. Thank you for providing these for the competition.
Here is my version of M27

Is it allowed to show the data on Facebook? Of course with a mention of the source?

This was not the easiest one to process, but a good learning experience about image weights and clipping setting during stacking.

If only all my data was this good!

Here is my rendition of the data - trying to keep the output near to 'reality'.

Yeah it's great data, a good scope and great camera but also it was taken in late summer which is part of our best sky period of the year. We are currently in our Spanish wet season so conditions are a litle more "challenging' for us behind the scenes with when and when not to open the roof and even if its clear the humidity can sometimes make it not worth bothering due to the haze it creates

Hey ho however, as it is what it is and the rest of the year more than makes up for it :)

Just in case it came across wrong, it was not a criticism of the RoboScopes data. I was referring to my highly unreliable UK imaging.

Not at all :)

It was just me chuntering out loud as the weather is a pain even with Spanish skies at present, also its a good way to let customers know then even dark sites skies are not perfect all the time so they have some perspective  :)

Ps how are you getting on with us so far ?

Steve
