I thought I would have a go at this object, and was very pleased with the detail. My biggest issue with Pier 12 at the moment, are the gradients and the what appears to be a flats issue, because I can see 'doughnuts' and the like within the image. Anyway I tried to process it is such as way as to ensure they remained as much in the background as possible - I have just about managed this, although they are there. I took 8 reds, 9 greens, 8 blues and 16 luminances, each at 15 minutes long. The imaging time was thus: 10 hours and 15 minutes.

Have a good night everyone...

Good Evening Simon,

You have done a great job of pretty well losing those huge dust donuts in the background as you say. Probably wouldn't have noticed, but I took it upon myself as a challenge to have a good close look! :) That set up I have always found a challenge, hence my earlier moan about a banding issue.

Hopefully with a new camera these issues will have gone away, provided that Mr A. has spat on his handkerchief and cleaned the optics as well. :)

That's a very fine image of a nice looking spiral galaxy, and I've just confirmed that I too have that data set. I think a close-up view, co-incidentally cropping out a few issues, may be the way ahead for me.

Well done,

Ray

[size=150]Ray, many thanks for your incredible kindness that never ceases! You are a superb forum supporter and always bother to comment on everybody's images. Well done to you! I appreciate all that you have said about my images in recent days and honestly I do not mind the comment about baldness - I got used to it by the time I was 40 - and I had lost most of my syrup by the time I was 30. I am now 50! So two peas in an astronomical pod. Well done with you latest contributions also, I really like what you post, I wish a few more persons told you too.

Pier 12 is an interesting one - deep detail etc, which is impressive... I am not that technical but I am unsure if the flats are working right, because I do not know why there are so many doughnuts and strange artefacts like that on the images. I manage the banding reasonably well, but as you say it will probably get sorted with the new gear. The team do so well, and I am guessing they will soon be home again from Spain.

I am just about to post another image from some data I have, simply because imaging outside tonight, here, is out of the question at the moment, contrary to the weather reports!!! Aaah. Tale care my friend.

Simon
