Really enjoyed this recent dataset from Pier 9.  Gamma Cass made its presence felt of course, but it wasn't too hard to mitigate the offending diffraction, as old_eyes predicted... :)

One of the very few images where I felt I needed to 'lower' the saturation to get a good look - boy the H-alpha is strong with this one!

I have also attached a starless version so you can see how much detail we were able to capture, clearly evident even with my trademark low-key stretching :)

Hi,

That starless version is particularly ghostly looking  even in a natural palette, I imagine it could look even more so in different colours. Great job and thanks for sharing. :)

Cheers and CS,

Profuse apologies for butchering your image, but being a 'pareidoliac' I also see a pigeon, a rather flustered one, in that image!

So adding to the Swan, Eagle, Pelican nebulae, here is a very crude representation of The Startled Pigeon Nebula. to assist those non-pareidoliacs who do not see it.

Anyway, if nothing else you probably learned a new medical term today. :)

Mwahaa!! :)  You totally butchered my image lol, next time I'm going to have to process this with a different orientation or something just so I can unsee that...  I like the new word though - will be actively looking for opportunities to slip it into conversation :)

Sorry to learn that you now cannot unsee it! I so hate it when it happens to me. :(

if it helps it was only obvious to me in the starless version, the stars act as a kind of distraction. Anyways, I promise never to do that to you ever again, and not share any more delusional visions should I ever imagine I see something or someone in any of your future images. I don't want to discourage you from sharing. :)

Just for a bit of sympathy, can you imagine what's it's like to look at some modern abstract paintings, where you see umpteen faces in different orientations and colours staring out at you! :)
