Hey dear Pier5 members,

I wonder if we should add a job for the colorfull IC4604, maybe a 2x2 or even 4x4 mosaic?

Currently the object is about 3h above the 25° limit, it´s a rather hard to get object for northern located astrophotographers. But it´s also a very beautiful object. Being a reflection nebula I would expect no filter OSC to fit best, but I am unsure about the RGB filtersets?

Do you think we can achieve reasonable data within the quite limited time frame? Any thoughts / recomandations on that one?

It is a great target.

This is a two pane mosaic from last year using standard OSC.

PIER-05 First process of the Rho Ophiuchi complex (roboscopes.com).

There is a less dramatic version in the gallery (page 3 of Nebulae I think). 60 x 120 sec exposures for each panel.

Hello Martin,

Certainly a good target for this pier as a 2x2 mosaic. If you really wanted to extend this to a 4x4, then might I suggest a 3x5 instead. Only 1 less frame but I think accommodates the Blue Horsehead better if we can get away with a 20% overlap.

A 2x2 gets my vote anyway.

Cheers,

I added a 3x2 mosaic request now.

Looking forward to the final result

Thanks Martin for the original suggestion and making the submission. :) Fingers crossed for a long run of clear skies to complete this.
