Hi everyone

We are in Spain this month doing some instalations, changes and maintenance

  1. The instalation for syndicate piers 13  & 14 so they should be up and running by the end of the month[/*]
  2. Pier-2 - The PC has died on this pier so we are swapping this out while in Spain
    [/*]
  3. P4 & 6 are having  300mm pier height extenders fitted due to the west wall on the observatory cutting of the horizons a little[/*]
  4. Pier-6 we are adding a tilt plate to the system to rectify a small amount of sensor tilt in the imaging train
    [/*]
  5. Pier-8 is getting a new Planewave L-500 mount on a wedge so that will be up and running[/*]
  6. Pier-10 we are fitting a new ASA DDM85 direct drive mount on a bent pier
    [/*]
  7. Pier-12 is getting a new dedicated RCOS flattener and a FLI PL-16803 camera with Astrodons 5nm HA OII SII and a 3nm NII filter[/*]
  8. There will be other changes taking place if we have the rime but I will make you aware of any othe pier changes that take place [/*]
None the less there will be some pier downtime with this type of maintenance taking place so please bear with us :)

Please ignore my dylexia wherever possible, just be thankful I can control my Tourettes ;)

Developments in Euroland re Covid

France looks to be going into semi lockdown with a curfew Friday night Saturday morning so it was either put the trip back until who knows when or leave tomorrow. So we are leaving tomorrow so we can be across the French/Spanish border before curfew starts

Phil and Adrien will be on hand with any issues but please bare with them. Myself and Pete have a mega drive as well as a ton of work to do when we arrive. Not to mention the worry of getting back home so please bear with us :)

Wish us luck

Steve

We are still over in Spain installing and doing maintenance, the new big mount was two weeks late and only arrived on Friday afternoon so it was pointless coming home before fitting it

As you can well imagine the observatory has been down while this much work has been going on. We have had white light and red light running into the small hours so imaging has been pointless however by tomorrow evening or the night after  if all goes well we will be back up and running!

Any orders placed may be a little delayed however as I am sure you will all understand  ?

We may have missed some emails or help desk tickets while in Spain and for that I apologies and we will get to them as soon as we get back to the U.K.

Ok, so Myself and Pete are now back after a mammoth drive and very succesful trip :)

We are taking a couple of days off to get some sleep and then we will be back online and get back up to speed, I have attached a video below from Pier 8

Ps the weather this week is pretty awful, so I doubt the observatory will get much down at all between the heavy rain and Autumn thunder storms :(
