We have decided on a slightly different location in Extremadura for the next star party, nestled in between places like Salamanca & Caceres with a wealth of history, so members should have lots to do a well as Astronomy :)

The accommodation "Rural Señorío de Sabanillas" is quite a unique building that's well appointed with en-suites to all bedrooms, indoor and outdoor cooking as well as air conditioning

We have booked the accommodation for the 1-9th of September so 8 nights, it sleeps 14 which works out at £282 per person, excluding travel costs etc. We have 4 double rooms and 3 twin rooms available.

If we do get over subscribed we have also located another smaller house that sleeps 7 a few kilometres away that we can reserve:)

The skies are Bortle 2 if not a little lower and are in one of the darkest parts of Spain with a nature reserve to the west, the horizons are low so imaging and visual astronomy are not an issue,

We will be bringing a 20" Obsession Dobsonian & 6" APO and a large SCT along as well as Solar scopes for daytime use for those so inclined to do a little visual. We will also bring a 240volt IP65 rated power distribution system with us that has multiple outlets but we still recommend bringing your own extension lead to branch off this so you can place it under your tripod. This means that Roboscopes staff will have to travel on the boat rather than Flying in like members will be able to. This is a non profit exercise for us, we just want to build the "Roboscopes" community and meeting other members this way seems like a good start :)

If you require your astronomy equipment brought to Spain in our van this can be arranged at an extra cost, please contact us to discuss.

Flights - Will need to be booked directly, although you have three tourist airports close by so flights are quite reasonable.

Car hire - We always suggest you take full cover insurance in Spain rather than leave the large insurance deposit. short term this costs more but it leaves far less to chance in the tight streets of Spanish towns and will save heartache if you do by some small chance have a small mishap. We suggest members try to organise a car share system to save on hire costs

Food & cooking - our suggestion is that each member adds €50 into a shopping kitty and we use this for food & drink etc. Cooking on the last trip worked out as a communal affair with some people cooking whilst others washed up etc. It worked out very well and we see no reason for this to change in 2024 as it was very enjoyable experience where everyone chipped in :)

So why not get under the Spanish skies and have some Astro fun with us.....

More details about where we are staying can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/complejoruralsenoriodesabanillas/

T&C's apply:

They are very simple, as we have already booked & paid for the accommodation, if you wish to attend you simply need to pay for your accommodation, Once paid it is non refundable. Although you could make you booking available to another member if by some small chance you cannot attend.
