It seems as though I am not able to upload the 5 images into one message, and I am having some difficulty with the 'in message' option, which is sad as it is really good. Since, writing that, I have discovered that if I use .jpg, rather than my preferred .png, it works - for some reason.

So, here is part two.

Thanks.
Simon

Hello Simon,
You have been busy. Not only do I really appreciate seeing examples of images that have been carefully processed and not overly so, but the fact that you have given us the integration data. That sure is useful and will help to estimate more accurately the times likely to be needed for other targets.

I've been putting to use the great tips from yourself and Peter. Slowly getting there! Not only been a bit busy doing other things, but finally got around to replacing my laptop with a more up-to-date one. From the limited amount of use so far it can make a huge difference, depending on what you are doing. Certainly going from 8 to 16gb memory has done wonders. Probably could do with more of that but that would have needed more money too. I hate resetting up a new computer. So many settings to adjust after installing windows.

I'm kind of bored with M8 and cannot see much improvement. Somewhere during processing the saturation is getting diminished or may not have been there in the first place. Keep going back and trying new ideas, to little avail. Have just started to look at some other data I booked on pier 5. Coincidentally I have the elephant trunk nebula which you have already done. Watch this space, but don't hold your breath!

If you have run out of data right now then I guess at least your computer will be pleased.

Best regards,
Ray

Wonder if I should change my log in name to "man of too many words!!!".

[size=100]Morning 'man of a perfectly acceptable number of words!',

It is good to hear from you Ray and I apologise for the delay - I am too busy sometimes to get round to do what I really want to! I did comment on the M8 image and said there a few things, so I trust they are helpful. There have been many images that I have given up on, or just cannot handle anymore, and then came back to them later, only to solve them. But not always - this hobby can really get to you. I think all of us are doing well with all this new business we have embarked on!

I trust the computer is ok now. I had to buy  a new computer a little while ago, the children needed it as well - had no choice really. I got 32GB for the RAM, and what a difference. I also got a high definition screen, 32" I think it is, and all this transformed my processing because I could actually see what I was doing for once! And the speed made such a difference too!

Admittedly, I am pretty much out of data, except for Pier 8, but that data is a bit tricky, for some reason or other  :  )

Have a great day and I hope IC1396 turns out well...

Phil,

Just to say, when you replied saying more data was on its way, please be assured I really was not bothered about the data, I just mentioned it as part of a wider response to Ray. Anyway, hoping you got my reply thanking you for your kind supportive words of late.

All the best!
