I have not posted anything on here for a while - my health has not been too great recently - but I have been keeping up to date with everything that has been going on, and all the conversations. It is an amazing website, with world class data being provided, a great community of people, and I am so impressed and full of gratitude to the team. Well done! I have no idea what this has cost you personally to do this. I would not have a clue how to set up one scope in one observatory, if tried! Thanks again...

I decided to process some data for the Rho-O[size=100]phiochus
complex - I think I rushed the processing a bit, but I wanted to post it anyway. The gear on pier 4 is so good! It uses a Sigma 105mm F/1.4 Art Lens Stopped down to F/2, an Astro Physics AP900 GTo3 and the superb ZWO ASI-2600MC Pro Colour CMOS 1x1 Binned. I used 145 subs at 2 minutes long each and so the integration time was 4 hours 50 minutes.

Take care everyone.
Simon

Hi Simon,

Had noticed your temporary absence putting it down to a vacation though. Really sorry to read about your not so good health as the reason and hope that in no time you'll be back to feeling fine again.
This approach of yours is literally in stark contrast to that taken by Mark, and I like this pastel approach as well. It really drags you in towards the centre and then down into a vast tunnel of darkness that leads you into the vast space beyond. This would certainly look nice enlarged and hung on a wall. Now if like me you really let your imagination run riot and mentally block out the small group of stars and blue nebulosity near the centre, there is a huge orange alien biped with a bright light shining from its forehead standing astride dust and stars. Maybe I just need to take a break!

For my silly survey I'd been keen to know what an e) is. :)

Hope you're feeling a lot better soon.

Best regards,

Ray

Ray,

Good to hear from you and thanks for your kind words with regard to the image. I do not know what it is about my style of processing, but I try to make the final image look as if I was able to stand in front of it with my naked eye, emerging from the stars, and render it that way, rather than force it too much into the foreground. Sometimes though I suffer form not doing that enough and then it is a bit too dim or something. As far as my health is concerned, it is an ongoing matter, but I try to do what I can - but thanks for all your support on that. As far as (e) is concerned and with that now gone, maybe my wife would stick me in (f) now and regard me as an obsessive, passionate, driven perfectionist who at the same time always wants to be still and peaceful - but never quite getting there. Is that a category?   :  )

Take care now!
