Some lovely rich data again from Pier 5, alas only 47 out of the 77 subs were useable, but I am not sure it would have made much difference if all were fine, such is the richness of them. Each were 4 minutes long, totalling to an integration time of 3 hours and 8 minutes.

Thanks everyone.

Simon

Simon,

That's very impressive from a set of single exposure times. Your image makes it very tempting for me to put a booking in for some shorter exposures on that pier and to have a first attempt at combining different times. Thanks for posting it.

In this image is also the 'Running Man" nebula, which I kind of see after having been told of it. My question is why is M42 not called the "Ram nebula"? Looks just as obvious to me as does that "Running Person" (sic).

This has been massively enhanced, colours and tones, to make it easier to see it from a crop of your image Simon. Be warned however that you may never be able to view M42 ever again without seeing it!

Cheers,

Excellent Ray! I can absolutely see what you are talking about. By the way with regard to the Ram my daughter always used to think it looked like her with her mad hair. That said, compared to me who has no hair, it's a slightly sensitive point! It is so good of you to keep encouraging me like this with all these images, and it will always mean a lot to me. Take care. Simon

Hi Simon,

You're not alone in lack of grass on top, I do though have some left at sides and back. I hope you don't take offence, but after the last lockdown a trip to the barber became a major priority for me. :)

A few drawbacks, cover your head in the sun and in particular on cold nights, when it is the best time for our hobby! Mind you I can be useful and give others some advance warning to get their umbrellas out, when the first few light drops of rain start to fall.

Remember grass apparently doesn't grow on busy streets.

Cheers,

Ray
