I should point out that I have only been a syndicate member on P3 now for 4 months, so I am not fully aware what 'normal' is regarding pier data.

Since joining in October I have downloaded 6 usable data sets - one of which was the M27 competition, so 5 from P3. Of which one has been my own submission. In addition, I have downloaded 19 unusable datasets - mainly cloud and poor focus. What I am wondering is whether this ratio is normal? I realise over the winter period cloud and weather is more of a problem, but this does seem to be quite a high ratio of failed images. It is possible I might be able to rescue one or two of these images by using minimal data, but that seems to defeat the object of remote imaging.

Is this amount of poor data normal? I have managed the same number of images in this time from Cumbria (admittedly on two imaging piers), so slightly unfair as a comparison. I would add that this has been my worst year ever in terms of cloud, so I would expect the Spanish rigs to be way ahead.

I was just wondering what everyone else's thought's were?

I have to agree with Clarkey that the data coming out of Pier 3. Most are unusable since the time i joined in early Jan 2024. While clouds may be one thing which is in no ones control, but bad framing and focus issues certainly are.....see attached screenshot of my findings on the datasets available since early jan 2024....vikas

Well, I guess I will have to wait and see if things improve. I still think a more than 3 to one ratio of poor to useable data is a lot. I would rather get nothing than unusable data. Most of the failed data sets are due to cloud or poor focusing. Obviously the first of these is difficult to deal with, but surely the poor focus should be resolvable?

I have been a member of Pier 3 since August and the data was really good until the humidity went up. When sky conditions and seeing are good Pier 3 is almost almost over sampled. Because of this as soon as the sky conditions and seeing are slightly below good then the scope becomes over sampled and the glorious star halos and fuzziness begin.
I want to see compare a data set from the new Pier 4 with ASA12 and the the big pixels on the ASI2400.

Evening, this is also our worst time of year in Spain as a whole also, Mid-March through to November is the best time to image in Spain and in between those times it's more hit-and-miss with the Spanish wet season, and we have to choose our imaging times when we can and the data has to be checked a little more judiciously.

However, once that changes in March you will struggle to keep up with the data, it can get a little overwhelming at times so other members have told us.
