Hello all, 
I have found a nice picture: https://www.astro-fotografie.at/portfolio-view/m-63/

On this picture you can see M63 with a lot of dust. The image was taken with a F4 telescope and 45 hours exposure time.

I would also like to photograph this with this pier. Since Pier1 is a bit slower. So we need more exposure time to get the same result. My suggestion would be 30 hours luminance and 10 hours RGB. Then we come to an exposure time of 60 hours. Because of the high focal length we will see even more details within the galaxy. Do you agree with this suggestion?

This is my photo of M63 with 8.5 hours of data and a CCD camera.
We dont need 60 hours to get the dusts

Okay, thanks for the tip. I have never photographed M63 before and can't estimate how much exposure time we need. What is the focal ratio of the telescope you took the picture with?

HI Darius.

I think you should go with @kalemwo1994's advice. This is a sensitive, low noise camera binned 2x2. It collects a lot of photons. 60 hours is a BIG job.

Its F4. I think we can start from 15 hours for the job. I did 12 hours for Fireworks galaxy and can pull out the Integrated Flux Nebula with this setup. M63 should be similar

Darius I look forward to this and agree that we should start off with the integration time suggested. I imagine we'd only need a moderate amount of time on the colour channels since it's the luminance that we need lots of. Thanks for the suggestion.

M63 has some prominent Ha 'knots' which it would be good to pull out. I would add some Ha, perhaps as a separate job. Ha can be done when the moon is up, so you might get a quick look at how much Ha you are actually seeing and be able to grab more data if you need to.
