I am new and waiting on my second image.  I read the notification that when the initial imaging process is complete it may take a while for your files to be posted because they need to be reviewed and may require further imaging if there are problems.  I noted that my recent session was marked 100% two or three days ago.  Does the fact the fact that they have not yet been loaded to the data portal hint that some portions need to be redone?  Will the 100% complete indicator be changed if there are problems with some of the data?

Hi, yes you are correct on all counts :)

It takes a few days to check and we resubmit what needs to be if it does then and the finished percentage goes down to suit this

Thanks Asatron.  My 100% completed job ID disappeared from the queue a couple of days ago and never reappeared indicating more data is needed.  I have opened a ticket to find out why I have no data and no communication.

Hi, I have just responded as it happens

it takes upto 36 hours after its left the queue for you to be able to download is all. Zipping, backing up and moving large data sets, then uploading to severs for download is not a quick thing I am afraid. Some of our data sets are 100gb at times

Cheers

Thanks Steve.  I didn't realize you were staff, or I would have continued here instead of filing a ticket.  This exchange shows that a little bit of knowledge can be a bad thing. :)  This is my second imaging session on Robescopes.  My first was the Pelican Nebula and was excellent.  At that time, I was not aware that I could monitor progress in the queue so I just enjoyed the beach knowing I would get the data sometime in the next 28 days.  Sure enough, an email came and there it was.

This time, unfortunately, I found the queue.  So, I could see that the job was at 100%, and all I had to go one was that there still might be a need to regather some data.    When I got up in the morning in DC and saw the ticket was at 100%, I guessed that it was already afternoon in Spain (or the UK where I think I read one of you mentioning he was working from) and that processing would probably take place the next morning.   When another day went by, I posted my first question.  After the Session ID disappeared from the queue and didn't reappear, I went thru the same mental process about time zones, and waited until a second day went by before filing the ticket.

I don't like being "that guy," who is posting impatient what's up questions.  If the FAQ simply outlined that processing can take several days after the queue shows the data is 100% gathered, I would have gone back to sleep knowing it would come when it comes.

Thanks,  Don

Its no worries

Our FAQ does show this below but we will amend them accordingly, don't worry most astronomers on the whole treat data like a present on Xmas morning and cant wait to get at it :)

In fact Phil (our IT man) is adding some text to the pier queue area in the next few days so members don't need to ask

Staff LOL as I tell everyone, I am just the teaboy...

I have now updated the Pier Queue page so that users will understand more.

Your datset should now be ready to download Don :)

The delay is actually because I was away on my jollies and only got back Sunday night - I have had alot to catch up with.

Good wording Phil.

Away on your Jollies, huh?  You must be the UK guy I mentioned above. :)

I downloaded the data file this morning and noticed that the older one from a month ago was still there.  I tried to delete it but couldn't.  Do site admins want to know when a file is no longer needed or is the automatic removal process the preferable way to go?
