Telescope

There is just something about imaging with a quality big APO refractor like a TMB with a big Russian lens, they simply deliver super tight stars and loads of contrast, nothing else delivers images like it when combined with the right camera. We are using a FLI Ml83100 with this so the image scale is as near as you can get it to the optimal 1"/px you can get for good skies. Its close up and very personal and will be a superb smaller nebular as well as galaxy season telescope.

Couple this to a 3.5" feathertouch and you get robust repeatability

CCD Camera

There are cameras then there are FLI cameras, FLI always seem to go that extra mile in cooling, read noise, download times not to mention build quality. The ML-8300 is from that stable and has everybodies favorite Kaf-8300 fitted so its a proven CCD in the best camera housing you can buy!

  • Imaging subjects with brighter cores will of course require shorter sub lengths for HDR, your personal experience will be needed to gauge this yourself.
