Telescope

Orion Optics AG14 F3.8 Imaging Newtonian with Wynne corrector, together they combine speed with good correction over large imaging sensors so what’s not to like.

The great thing about these large aperture fast scopes when combined with big sensors is you get a similar field of view to small 70-100mm APO's but with a massive jump in resolution and detail. You could never hope to achieve this with small aperture telescopes

CCD Camera

A FLI Proline PL-16803 CCD camera which in all honesty is still the daddy when it comes to imaging. Superb cooling, fast downloads and very clean images combined with 9um pixels and 52mm diagonal sensor it really is hard to beat.

For your convenience and ease of use we have taken the time to calculate this setup for filter weightings which if followed will help you to maximise your imaging time.

Pier-13 is a F/3.8 fast Unguided system with a maximum exposure of 600s. The speed and dark skies means there is no need for longer subs

  • Imaging subjects with brighter cores will of course require shorter sub lengths for HDR, your personal experience will be needed to gauge this yourself.
